Yes in park campgrounds, as long as you pad the trees, skip oak trees and keep it from becoming a hazard.
The rules
- Hammocks, clotheslines and other tensioned lines are allowed in campgrounds if they do not create a hazardous condition.
- Pad the trees to prevent bark damage.
- Fixed lines and slacklines may not be attached to oak trees, and anchor trees must be padded.
- Slacklines are only allowed within 200 feet of Camp 4 for registered Camp 4 campers.
- Climbing giant sequoias is prohibited, so leave the big trees alone.
- We could not find a published hammock rule for wilderness camping, so check with the wilderness center before you go.
