The rules
- Overnight trips in permit zones of the Maroon Bells Snowmass Wilderness require a permit.
- Camping is prohibited within 100 feet of lakes, streams and Forest Service trails.
- Near Crater Lake, Conundrum Hot Springs and other popular lakes, camping is only allowed at designated sites.
- Food and scented items must be stored in an approved bear resistant container.
- We found no hammock specific rule from the Forest Service. Use wide, tree friendly straps.
