The rules
- Austin Parks and Recreation no longer requires a permit for hammocks or slacklines.
- Use tree friendly straps for hammocks.
- Set up at least 25 feet from trails and bridges, and do not block public access.
- Nothing may penetrate a tree, and heritage trees are off limits.
- Organized events need an event permit.
