Winter Yeti Hang

πŸ“… Usually the third weekend of January Β Β·Β  πŸ“ Government Camp, Oregon

The Pacific Northwest's classic snow hang at Frog Lake on Mt. Hood. Fifteen years running and still the coziest way to sleep in the snow.

The Cascade Hangers gather every January at Frog Lake Campground for a weekend of cold weather hammock camping. It is a short half mile walk in from the Frog Lake sno park, so you can haul real winter gear without a big backpacking effort. Saturday brings a potluck, usually chili and soups around the fire. The 15th annual hang ran January 16 to 18, 2026. Bring a winter rated underquilt and top quilt, a sno park permit for your car, and traction for your boots.

What to bring

  • βœ“ Hammock, wide tree straps and carabiners
  • βœ“ Rain tarp and stakes
  • βœ“ Underquilt or pad for the night
  • βœ“ Headlamp, camp chair and a dish for the potluck
  • βœ“ Water and anything the registration page asks for
